Through comparative research across Brazil, India, Kenya and South Africa, this project identifies how governments organise, source and use policy advice. It highlights good practices in evidence generation, advisory systems and the use of AI in policymaking. The consolidated report provides recommendations for building more connected, data-driven advisory systems in South Africa, drawing lessons from successful models such as Brazil’s Casa Civil and Kenya’s Policy and Strategy Unit. The findings support efforts to strengthen evidence-based policymaking in the Global South.
